Joining army for a Gap year, a good opportunity?

I'm thinking of taking advantage of the ADF's Gap year program, which would allow me to pursue millitary training for one year before going on to study. I'd put some serious thought into this before undertaking it, and I've still havn't finished Year 12, but I think this may be a great opportunity to gain discipline that would help me later in life.
