What are the Pistol laws in Maine ?

I'm In NH and im working on getting a pistol permit , But I do not have one yet , But in NH I can carry a pistol unconcealed without a permit and I can carry it in the car unloaded concealed and not locked up with out a permit , IM going to be traveling to maine next week and I want to bring it I probably wont have the permit by then so what are the laws , can I even bring it into the state , do you have to be 21 in maine to be in possession of a pistol? in NH you do not have to be, thanks
