How often does the ADF actually see action? Does the RAAF ever have to defend Australia from a direct threat?

I'm assuming that the Army probably sees the most action, but even then how often would this occur? And what about the navy and air force? Do they have to plan attacks or defences on a regular basis or just patrol?
